Cardiff Bonsai Club 2001

at

Dyffryn Gardens

In 2001 we were fortunate to be re-associated with Dyffryn Gardens, who offered us a marquee on the front lawn.  Dyffryn Gardens is situated in the village of St Nicholas, just outside Cardiff, and  was originally home to the Cory family, of shipping fame. The gardens and arboretum are open to the public during the summer, and are well worth a visit. There is also a special connection with bonsai, as it housed the earliest bonsai collection in Britain outside of London. Unfortunately this collection was lost, but in the grounds there are maples that look as if they were part of the original collection. The weather for the whole weekend was superb, the tent was magnificent, and everyone had a very enjoyable weekend. The number of visitors surpassed our expectations.
